Steve Slain – Vice President

Steve has a diverse background in the sports medicine and sports performance field. He began as a Fire Fighter/Paramedic for 8 years, including two years as a Flight/Paramedic for Humana Hospital, in Orlando. He then became a licensed massage therapist and specialized in sports massage. From 1992-1997 he worked as the team Licensed Massage Therapist and Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for the Orlando Magic before taking a similar position with the US Women’s National Soccer Team in 1994.
He served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach/Massage Therapist for the Women’s National Soccer Team until he started with SST in 1997. During this time he designed and implemented year round strength, conditioning and nutrition programs for world-class soccer athletes such as Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy and Kristine Lilly. These training programs helped the women capture the Bronze medal at the 1995 World Championship in Sweden and the Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Steve continues to be involved in strength and conditioning of young athletes serving as a strength and conditioning consultant for Winter Springs High School Girl’s soccer for 10 years and Lake Mary High School Girl’s soccer for 16 years. He served as part of the medical team for the Julie Weber Memorial Soccer Tournament in Lake Mary from 1999-2016. He has worked with many local high school and club teams and provided soccer specific conditioning programs/camps for college players in the summer from 1999-2009. Steve is very active speaking on strength and conditioning and sports nutrition at camps, clinics, and seminars. He has written articles for Training and Conditioning, Performance Conditioning for Soccer and was a guest writer for the book “The Champion Within”, authored by Lauren Gregg, Assistant Coach US Women’s National Soccer team.
He still serves as a clinician in the Oviedo location working with the with Orlando Orthopedic Group and is currently volunteering his time with the Winter Springs Pop Warner Football Association.
He currently resides in Maitland, Fl with his wife Robyn, son Ty, and daughter Lexie.
